Yeah, I'm not going to feel crazy thinking an era-defining film is better than the good Crichton book it's based on.

Maybe I don't hold Crichton in as high an esteem as others. Eaters of the Dead is a fascinating idea for a book, but I don't think it's very good. Its film adaptation, The 13th Warrior, is also better than the book.
