Fell in a fighting tigers rabbit hole. Led to the Louisiana native guard, and the interesting tidbit that the militia was the first in North America with black officers.

The were finally dissolved by General John Lewis.

Who happens to be the great great grandfather of Michael Lewis: writer of both Moneyball and The Blindside

For those members from other states, did your areas have famous regiments during that time? And what were they famous for?

Ours were famous for being a bit too rowdy and preferring their battles to be CQC rather than at a distance.

All the historical old regiments were killed off in the 50s, when the Army went to the Pentomic concept. The regiments became brigades, with a few battalions here and there keeping the old traditions alive.
