I recently stayed my 6th night at a Hilton this year and they just sent me an email saying that gives me Silver status for the next year (their website says it takes 10+ nights to get it), so there's that.
Of course, the only extra "perk" I've ever really noticed being Silver is getting the bottle of water at check in, which sometimes you have to ask for and sometimes you're told they don't have at the moment. Woo Wee.

Hilton will try to entice you at times to get you to stay more often. Based on past travel, they bumped me back to Diamond two years in a row. Diamond level is a big plus when you stay at a Hilton property. Silver, not sot so much.
