Haven’t done club champion yet, or at least it’s been years. There is one by my house though and have wondered the same thing. They seem solid.
You want to know where the worst experience to get fitted would be? PXG. I did not get fitted there, just dropped in the store to see what all the hype was about. I picked up a club at one of their monitors/bays and the guy let me hit one shot before he told me that I would need a reservation before hitting any more.. Rubbed me the wrong way and got the hell outta there. I don’t buy the hype, I don’t like their marketing scheme, and their crap is overpriced.

So you wanted to get fit for nothing then ?
It's a fitting studio, not a golf store per se. Most of the time on the weekends the fitting bays are booked solid all day long.
The PXG Fitting is a very comprehensive track man evaluation and well worth the 50 bucks, that you can apply towards a purchase.
I will say this, it doesn't matter where you get fitted, you are at the mercy of that particular fitter that day. His product knowledge and his ability to recognize a person's ability is paramount to a good fitting that yields results on the course.
What I don't want is a fitter that tries to change my swing while being fitted.
I'm not a big fan of Club Champion, but luckily in the Houston area we have some other great options.
I have heard too many stories about Club Champion pushing certain shafts on golfer that have no business using them.
But you might walk into a CC that has a great fitter and he does a good job for you.

You can’t just walk into Club Champion as you please and start grabbing clubs and hitting them either, you need an appointment.

They are pretty inexpensive actually, but apparently you don’t want to get fit correctly and think you can just roll in anywhere and start hitting balls
