Glacier National Park in October

Thinking about going to GNP in mid-October, but I’m afraid a lot of the park would not be open.
Anyone ever been in Oct? What was it like?

I have been late September and it was great. According to the NPS website, the main road through Glacier (Going to the Sun Road) typically closes the third Monday of October, but can always close earlier if they get heavy snow earlier. I would say early October would be a safe bet. Mid to late October would be much higher risk of major closures.

I would not want to be on Going to the Sun Road if there was any chance of snow.
