“I’ve seen skilled and it doesn’t exist with the Hispanic labor today.”
I could not disagree with you more… in texas we use Hispanic labor a lot …. Tend to get very skilled professionals and their trade come up here and work.. I have seen amazing quality.. I do not pick up labor outside lowes…
Was in Tyler texas for a while and i had to get work done … paint .. electric.. I saw a significant drop in they quality of work and increase in price when John showed up instead of Jose.

A good brush and a steady hand
Rolling a straight line isn’t hard either assuming the paint has some thickness to it
I personally hate taping but sometimes it’s necessary

My daughter, age 22, just graduated from OU, (no pics) decided her bedroom, which has 10' high ceilings and is 14x22, needed painting. I told her to knock it out herself.
She had no idea how much prep was involved. It took her several weeks.
After it was done she said it was "inspiring work", meaning, she is inspired to earn more money in the business world and pay someone to do it for her in her future home.

I don't get how painters make a living and can do that shite so quickly. I know good/most painters use good brushes and can just hand do it without tape... still amazes me.
Experience ,and better tools will pretty much do it. DIY in your home, you get distracted, have to stop for various things and do it in your spare time. These guys do it for a living.

I hate painting but I hate paying someone to paint even more. We bought a house almost 3 years ago, so far I’ve repainted the entire ceiling, it was all color matched contractor beige, and our living room walls. Since it’s too hot to do anything outside I’ll probably tackle the kitchen in the next few weeks.

Unrelated to house painters, but anybody that can do this stuff freehand without tape is okay in my book.
