We are in the process of a massive industrial build-out in North America. We are re-shoring, near-shoring, and friend-shoring our manufacturing away from China. Most of it is coming back to North America and the rest is going to more friendly SE Asian countries. Next, despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth, we are energy independent. Sure, we import some oil (mostly from Canada), but we also export oil. This isn't a dependence issue. This is a refining issue. Our shale oil is light sweet, but our refineries are set up to deal with heavier and more sour crudes right now. So, we export the light sweet and bring in the heavier sours. This problem will fix itself as our refineries make the transition. Third is food. We are a MASSIVE net exporter of food. Being completely energy and food independent, we're in a better strategic position than any other country in the world. Finally, there is no other currency in the world that is large enough, liquid enough, and stable enough to be used as a reserve currency. Even our enemies who absolutely loathe us use it because there simply isn't another option. The Ruble and the Yuan are both tanking. Combining them into some BRICS currency won't solve that. Everyone's finances are screwed to a certain degree, but our currency is the least bad option and that's unlikely to change.
