Well they kind of had to take over the remediation site because they owned the company (Hooker Chemical) that was responsible for it. Occidental Chemical was not involved with the decisions to store the hazardous waste in a reckless manner or part of the decision to sell that land to the school board. That was Hooker Chemical who Oxy happened purchased 15 years after the fact.
I seriously doubt the engineers or anyone else would eat the fish out of that lake. Regardless it’s still pretty disingenuous to try and associate the Oxy brand as the ones that created the environmental tragedy that is Love Canal.
