If you live in Louisiana then you know how to handle the heat. Take a swim or a cool shower. Sit in front of a fan. Use the air conditioner. Drink a cold beer. Tell the wife to make you a sandwich for supper instead of heating up the kitchen with the stove. Repeat each day until a cold front comes through.
