At some point someone posted a news headline which has already been covered and everyone had already seen. The responder replied that it was old news and everyone had already seen the headline for. Pearl Harbor being one of the major headlines is the century was referenced and the joke about the Germans bombing it as a call back to animal house.

It was then used and referenced all the time with the short hand of “Germans” as a response to peoples posts, even if they were only a minute behind another post about it. Or sometimes people would work the word German, change the location of the headline to Germany or many other ways of saying the headline is old.
