I think the main strategy operators should be focusing on is trying to minimize the amount of new water being introduced into the full cycle, via recycling produced water for operations.

However, at some point, all that water still needs to go somewhere. That’s the challenge. There have been strides made in beneficial reuse, but those numbers are just a (no pun intended) drop in the bucket compared to the amount of additional water being produced from the subsurface, even if all operators went to 100% recycle water for D&C operations. Which you really can’t, at least not sustained, as you’ll need makeup water where you can’t recycle enough or get a fast enough refresh rate.

Have fun at the conference. Very interesting stuff. I know several folks who are attending. I need to look up who’s presenting to see if I know any of them as well.

well said, the tech for all of this has existed for quite some time and keeps getting better and better. It is just too expensive. Too expensive becomes a relative term when there are no other options

Yep, I know several of the speakers!

The Sarah Stonger person speaking is the one who ran for TXRRC last year and did a YouTube video of her riding a pump jack in a bikini.

Enjoy Texas Pacific’s happy hour event on Day 1!
