Chasing away your core fanbase in favor of a more casual crowd who isn't going to watch anyways is what killed NASCAR, too.
That Giants fan in Queens isn't going to watch USC/Ohio State. That part of the country doesn't give a shite about college football and turning it into a watered down NFL lite isn't going to change that.
