Relatives had one, but jets did not exist back then, do private train cars count? If ever a form of travel was 1st class, private cars were "the bomb".
In more recent years, flown private to SEC sporting events and pretty sweet. While not excited about the planes the way some may be, the travel speed is really addictive.
Imagine
Getting to the plane's airport ( parking spot is reserved for you) with your luggage (they tote and load) and being wheels up about 5 mins later.
Once in air, non stop (no layovers for hours hassling with crowds switching flights)
On the ground vehicle is waiting for you (sometimes police escort) and whisked to where you are staying
The thing you notice is how efficiently you get through the process but the biggest thing you notice is how much time you waste traveling coach on a public plane.
