So Joshua tree is not worth the time? I was kind of wondering if some people held that opinion. Seems like once you’ve seen one of those trees you’ve seen them all

Joshua Tree is great. Great road system to drive through the park. Quietest place I’ve ever been when we got out and hiked through the large boulders. Definitely go if you can. It’s an easy driver up from Palm Springs.

Here's the story: I was working in Palm Springs. The wife came along because it was near our anniversary. After work one day, we jumped in the car and drove a good hour just to get to the park.

Once in the park, it was an hour to get to where the trees actually grow. So I drove and hour through the desert just to get to the point where I needed to drive another hour through the desert to see an area the size of 6 football fields where these Dr. Seuss-looking things grow.

Then it was another hour and a half to get out of the park, because the wife wanted to see if there was anything else to see. There wasn't.

Except for the trees, it's desert with a bunch of uninteresting rocks.

If you like camping, I can maybe see a reason to be there, but it was not my cup of tea at all.
