It is definitely a negative in that it gives your competition certainty on who to prepare for. However, if they don’t do it, then gamblers will constantly be harassing players to find out impactful news.This is not only distracting, it also starts relationships between players and professional gamblers, and you can see where that is going.

I agree on both your points. I also said that this creates an atmosphere of confidence for the team, first knowing who is playing/ not playing, and second that the coaching staff is confident in their abilities, injured or not.
