i would be disappointed in an NIT berth. There is no reason LSU should not be in the NCAA tourney every year.

I get what you are saying on a macro level but that’s unrealistic at the micro level.

When you look at the roster that we have, an NIT bid would be a great season.

I understand that in general we as fans feel like the resources and support are at a level that should allow us to be a perennial tournament team but the current reality is that we are behind our peers and an NIT bid would be over achieving.

One would hope that an NIT bid would allow McMahon to convince some better talent to transfer here next year and give us a chance to live up to the potential we as fans saw Will Wade tap into.

it should never be unrealistic at LSU. It should be the expectation.

well if we can't get a roster to make it happen, then we need someone different at the helm who can get us that roster. With the transfer portal and the talent in this state, this is a piss poor excuse.

There are examples all across the country of new coaches doing a ton better than McMahon has done. Wade came into a situation that was terrible, taking over a program that just had it's worst season ever, and won the SEC in year 2. I get it, this past year was a tough one to bring anyone in worth a shite. I'll accept that excuse with the punishment on the program lingering over. That's not there anymore, so there are no excuses anymore.

I'll say this, i'll be upset if we don't make the tourney, but if we play hard for the most part and we are competitive, and make the NIT, then i can see the progress and be happy about that. IF this season is anywhere near what last season was i would fire him before the season is even over just so we can get a headstart on hiring someone new and getting on the recruiting asap.
It is astonishing how much energy last year took out of a program that had finished top 5 the last 4 years and in the tourney. I get it he had a tough time recruiting for last year, but that excuse is gone now.
