There was a point in time not all that long ago that schools didnt have every game televised and you had to either listen to the radio or read about the results in the paper the next day

That has changed and conferences growing and adding more intriguing matchups is a big driver in that

This benefits the sport at the end of the day

It will ultimately only benefit a few. And then we’ll have large swaths of the country playing second tier football. Then what?

live sports rights is not looking like the automatic cash cow anymore, the consolidation of the super league will happen even faster.

The matchups aren’t more intriguing though lol. Nobody needs or cares to see Washington vs Indiana or UCLA vs Michigan State etc. People on the west coast DO CARE about Washington vs Oregon State or Washington State etc. College football is trying too hard to be the NFL and forgetting what makes it great in the first place. The sport’s heartbeat is the regionality of it.
