What I want to know is why the story got out in the first place? If they were just going to bury it, why did they leak it originally? Must be some 4D political shite my little brain can't comprehend yet.

I can't answer this, either. I figure some rookie SS employee ran his mouth to the wrong person, and they had to go public. They knew nothing would become of it, because the Bidens are way too far above the law.
I further assume said blabbering rookie got reassigned to Arizona desert surveillance detail.
