How is using their travel portal? Don't you have to use their travel portal to get the benefits/points?

It's easy to use, but limited results.
For example, I have a trip that I take several times a year for a youth sports event for my daughter. There is a Hilton Garden Inn right by the facility that I like. It's not on the Capital One portal.
To get the $300 benefit, you have to use their portal. You can use your points on any travel (via redeem for travel option)
