It isn’t like RBs don’t know this going in.
I had a superstar teammate who was the prototype “Athlete” recruit who played RB, CB, P, and PR/KR in high school.
He was being recruited at the next level to be a CB and was repeatedly told that he would have a much longer and more lucrative career there than if he stuck to his guns and stayed an RB.
He did a year at RB before deciding they were right and flipping sides of the ball. That helped get him into the NFL and he had a decent career there.
