Problem is those pilots had over 1500 hours at the time of the crash and the rest of the Western world I believe still only requires 500 hours, and if you haven't noticed everything is ok.

So I guess a cynic would conclude the pilot unions lobbied for the three fold increase in hours/debt off that tragedy to create a pilot shortage so that labor negotiations would be in their favor.

I guess, don't hate the player, hate the game but these demands aren't going to stop anytime soon and your ticket price and chances of your flight being delayed or cancelled from staff shortages are just going to keep going up.
