I just hope it was a mental health episode and not a planned hoax.

She had takeout dinner in her car for her mom. She was on the phone with someone supposedly talking to the child then screamed. She left all of her stuff- phone, wallet, wig, car....and then where did she go? Walked into the woods and stayed there for 2 days? Was she hallucinating? I've never heard of a mental health episode like this if no previous issues. How did she get home without a phone?

Is this a medical professional you'd want treating you? Administering your meds?

She had to have had help…..

It’s the only explanation. Who dropped her off at her house?

Well that’s the rub, right? We have no idea whether this woman has had issues in the past or not. And if she has, we still may never find out. I would say the biggest sign would be a history of substance abuse/alcoholism but I wouldn’t necessarily expect that to come to light (at least publicly).

I think when people talk about a mental health episode vs. a planned hoax, it’s really a question of whether this was something she planned on her own (hence underlying mental health issues) or something that was coordinated with certain family members as some sort of scam. The hallucination possibility doesn’t make a lot of sense in context IMHO.

I would like to think I could find my way home without a phone under similar circumstances. I think the most likely answer (outside of being a coordinated hoax) would be that she simply gave up and called a family member, using another phone, to come get her. OR she was recognized and the family got tipped off to her location. I don’t really buy that she just showed up at their front door but it’s also a possibility.

How would not having a phone stop someone from going home?
