They gave away 10s of thousands of tickets in 2010 due to lack of interest?

They just left the seats empty

I'm quickly reminded why I don't post as much anymore - I feel like a fricking crazy person when people are ASTONISHED that fewer people attend sporting events in remote places than the US and Europe.

I wonder if the country’s Covid restraints made people less likely to buy tickets ahead of time as well.

Calm down baw. I just asked you a question. While I see they had issues in 2010, that article is kind of all over the place as to why there were empty seats.

That's still a different problem than giving 10s of thousands of tickets away for free.

Do I believe a Men's World Cup in NZ would see lower attendance than if it were in the US or Europe? Of course! Do I believe a Men's World Cup in NZ would see a level of low-interest as the Women's World Cup? Absolutely not!

Article talks about empty seats due to transportation or people just not willing to go. They actually sold most of the tickets in 2010. Sounds like they are having trouble just selling tickets in NZ if giving that many away
