They need a chief that will motivate the officers and set the tone for the dept in a positive manner.

LeDuff, I met him and the swat guys he worked with. The guys I met were pretty good leaders.

What they will get is another political hack!!

Pay Baton Rouge police what they deserve since they put up with the dregs of this city. There is no reason for them to make $10,000 less than an NOPD officer after one year on the job. If you want quality officers, you have to attract quality applicants. Nobody wants to police this shithole for $49,000 a year.

NOPD's website states:
quote:

The salary for Recruit candidates starts at $42,449 and rises to $59,014 per year ($61,014 per year with a qualified Bachelor’s degree) after one year of service with additional incentive payments for bilingual officers, college degrees, merit pay, etc.

BRPD's website states:
quote:

Base starting salary while in the academy $40,906 – annually
After six months from the date of hire (3% merit increase) $42,134 – annually
After one year from the date of hire (3% merit increase) $43,398 – annually
After one year from the date of hire (State Supplemental Pay) $6,000 – annually
$49,398 – after one year
