re: WTF is up with NASCAR

I went to 'Dega for about 10yrs in the 90s. Stayed in the family campground when it was "park where you want" through the move to allocated spots. It was essentiallly a guys weekend from Thursday to Monday

Sat up in OV Hill towers

Every year there would be at least one burned out hulk of an RV and reports of CO poisoning from heaters in tents.

Used to cruise what was then called the "animal section" where literally anything went...

The last few years we went, there were more cops in the campgrounds, clamped down on cruising, restrictions on gray water, and it all cost more each year.

Finally quit going as the group lost interest...

Good times while they lasted.

And now like many others, don't pay attention hardly at all.

ETA - i remember when they had to add backstretch seats... now long gone.
