I also love a book series because there is such a pay off when you like it knowing there are more to read.
That being said, what about a book to movie? I recently read Killers of the Flower Moon and it was phenomenal. The amount of research the author put in must have been insane. This will be a huge movie, won’t be released for a while yet so you have plenty of time to read it. He has other books done in a similar way so while it isn’t a series, you can read more of his work if you like that book. One has already been made into a movie (Lost City of Z) and his newest (The Wager) has been optioned by Scorsese I heard.

This may be my best option due to limited time I have. Thanks for the recommendations
