You must be taking tips from your grandparents who grew up in the depression.
What if you get robbed or have a house fire? Is that money insured?
Put it in a money market account. It is federally insured, and is basically cash but in a secure location. Plus you make 4% interest.

If shite really hits the fans then currency, BTC and gold might be useless.
I remember an old article that said to stash cases of Ivory soap, since it doesn't go bad and always has value.
Seems more logical than stashing $50K in bills.
