I had a recent plumbing repair on a rental in Gulf Shores. Pex fitting in attic was leaking
Plumbing labor 1.5 hours $202.43
Shop Supplies $6.75
3/4" 90 degree elbows(4) $13.28
Pex pipe .75 x 1 feet $3.38
3/4" pex crimp rings (8) $7.92
Total $233.76
Tax $3.13
Total $236.89
Most of the 1.5 hours of labor was drive time

I’m an apprentice plumber myself and have seen some huge bills. Until society pushes for kids to go into trades instead of college, prices will only go up. There’s a lot of old guys in our company that will soon retire.
As far as the job, I’d have done it for you much cheaper, but I hate charging people a lot when I do side jobs.
