I’m fine with the over 12” and only 2 over 19”, but I fail to see the necessity to only allow 15 fish. They have yet to present any substantive proof that there is even an issue to begin with. People started getting their panties in a bunch when they couldn’t understand why it was tough to catch specks in years/areas with high River water. The last two years with better conditions the fishing has been off the charts in most areas.
Fwiw I have no issue with eliminating the guide limit.

I’m always conflicted by the new regs because I’m fundamentally not a fan of government regulation but I also realize Louisiana is so incredibly far behind when it comes to conservation and investing in the future of our fishery.

I’m a fan of the only 2 over 19” and not allowing guide limits.

Not sure how the 15 fish limit helps (most boats don’t bring back 15 fish pp) and the people I’ve talked to researchers who say the best thing we could do for trout would be to increase the size limit to 15””.

People keep wanting proof of everything but it doesn’t exist for either side of the argument. It’s incredibly difficult and expensive to conduct the types of studies needed to feel really confident in the conclusions. Even if there was enough money and resources to conduct those studies we could never complete control for the amount of variables at play in these complex ecosystems.

What you end up with is one side that wants to err on the side of caution and another side who is concerned with the thought of never ending government regulation.

Ideally LA anglers would self limit but we have a long long long way to go before anglers here start thinking about conservation on the level of FL or TX anglers. The good news is we have some of the most passionate outdoorsman in the country so I think it’s possible we eventually get there.
