re: Guidry next year

I think he wants to play the field. Provided he hits well enough, I suspect he can hold down a middle infield position. If he does that, I could see him maintaining a similar role as this year as one of our closers. If you've got a guy like nippolt who can confidently give you solid defense you could bring guidry in for an inning or a few outs at the end of games. I don't think that's too much of an ask or too crazy of a shift. I don't see him being a primary arm if he's playing both ways. Bain did something similar a handful of years ago and it worked out pretty well. I forget all the specifics though.
