It's all about coaching...and who is the only guy they fired? Just the best Oline coach they ever had, and if you doubt, ask any of the players.

quote:

Saints tight end Juwan Johnson was effusive. “Dan is someone whose help changed the trajectory of my career,” he said. “He genuinely cares for the development of his players, both on the field and as men. He isn't one of the best coaches I've played for, he is the best."

And tight ends wasn't his forte'...oline was.

quote:

Dan Roushar is always open to hearing new ideas.

He seeks them out, doesn’t care where they come from and is willing to scrap something if someone has a better way. The Saints offensive line coach brought in the legendary NFL assistant Alex Gibbs, the so-called godfather of the zone blocking scheme, this offseason, and continues to have an open ear to his players.

“I don’t think I need to explain to see how good he’s been,” right tackle Zach Strief said. “He’s one of those coaches that’s able to coach and let us play. During the week, if there’s something in that we don’t like the that we’re doing it, he’s OK with us saying, hey, let’s try this.

“There’s not a lot of coaches in the league that will let that happen. He lets us be veterans. That’s important.”
