I have absolutely never heard of any club having a ‘No Celebrities’ rule.. how do you even enforce, or determine that ?? Like, what constitutes a celebrity ? So if they’d had this rule in the 1980s, i guess someone like Donald Trump wouldnt be accepted for membership ? In Los Angeles , there are tons of celebrities and i dont even know how they would draw a line between someone who is merely ‘well known’ vs someone who is an actual ‘celebrity’.. Also, it seems like the opposite of capitalism to actually penalize someone for being a celebrity- since most celebrities tend to be successful people .. Such lame policies and rules IMO .

This club isn't about capitalism.

After reading this thread, the collective trashiness of the OT is more glaring than ever

Yeah its very common. Clubs of all types don't want attention, they want a low profile. If LACC lets a bunch of movie stars in, they're going to start badgering the staff and the paparazzi are going to be jumping the fence taking pics of Sly Stallone on the back nine. That's not what the club is set up to do.

As to how you enfoce it? There is a board of directors and a membership committee. They either have a rule such as "nobody who gets paid to be on TV or movies can join" and the membership committee discuses each candidate and if they seem too high-profile, they are not offered membership.

There are very likely quite a few clubs that would not offer Donald Trump a membership. Once he had his own TV show he was pretty high profile and a lot of clubs don't want that attention. Now it is a certainty, regardless of your politics or views on his indictments, that lots of clubs don't want him. They don't want secret service, they don't want paparazzi, they don't want politicians, they don't want investigators snooping around...

I suspect that the reason he started buying clubs is because he was not offered membership and he said "screw them I'll buy the place".

Joe Biden is very discrete because the news media and swamp protect him so he could join a lot of clubs. Hunter, on the other hand, would be a very hard sell. No clubs want a junkie, navy washout, stripper-impregnating member. That brings all kind of bad attention.
