Other than helping state businesses, though dealerships are selling out to national corporations, so not as big of an argument, its supposed to protect the consumer.
Tesla does this, but won't be included in this ban I don't think, but their support is lacking as theres no dealership to help or hold accountable being the middle man support. As cars are getting crazy more technically advanced that support is needed.
If the plan was for the OEMs to create or take over dealership locales, then it would be different, but having all car customers with no one to deal with in person would really disrupt the known familiar status quo.
This is definitely a catch 22 for Conservatives, but the slippery slope potential needs to be thought thru too.
