That would be a feature, not a bug. I can't think of a single reason for the US to be a NATO member. Russia is a major trade partner for nearly every member. Why would we need to protect them from their own trade partner?

We need to throw a large base or two in Poland and one or two other countries that actually appreciate it, and call it a day. Save trillions of dollars.
