My 15yo and her friend recently flew together on Southwest as “young travelers”. TSA only asked to see her boarding pass, but I had her bring her learner’s permit so she gets in the habit of showing her ID at the airport. CuseTiger mentioned bringing a passport, which is also a good idea.
Since this was her first time flying without an adult, I did get a pass at the check-in counter to escort them to the gate.
