One of our waitstaff recommended this place to us a few days ago. She said the owners are from "da parish" and they just opened here in Mandeville. So we called for a delivery tonight. I have to say that (and I need to be very careful here with my discription) this might be the best pizza in Louisiana...maybe the world.

Really...the pizza was very good, probably the best we have had delivered. The tamales were not Manuels, but very good. We were very happy with the food quality and speed of service.

I don't know what the delivery area covers..but here is the phone number to give them a call.

You've got to be more descriptive than this, brah.

Bread, sauce, toppings, etc.

Make us believers.

thin crispy crust. tasted homemade

We got a 16inch Ben's special...which was all of their toppings...pepperoni, ham, meatball, italian sausage, hot sausage, black olives, anchovies, etc.
My understanding is that they traditionally put the cheese under the ingredients, but you can request it on top...and we did. I was very impressed with the first bite...just good quality dough, good cheese that you could tell they shreded and fresh toppings.

Wife got the WOP salad. Just a tradional italian salad...it was OK.

We also ordered an Italian Sausage PoBoy...I understand these can be hard to get in BR. Ours was very good. Good bread, probably from a NO bakery. I would think Liedenheimers.

The hot tamales were really good...I could tell they were not Manuels quality...but we ate the hell out of them. $10.75 for an order of tamales, but there was plenty for the two of us.

All told...a really good delivery. I didn't have to leave the house and the food was very tasty, hot and fast. We probably over ordered because we wanted to try a few differet things..but we will have lunch for tomorrow.

Spent $41.25 for the food and a handsome tip for the driver.

Egg, you think Naples might have a stake in the best pizza in the world discussion? Please, it was delivered in Mandeville. Please don't get me started on a pizza in Louisiana thread. Yes, we have good pizza, but not great pizza.

I grew up, literally, right around the corner from the original Ben's in Arabi. You pretty much can't go wrong with anything. However, I'd put the pizza in it's own class. Everything is homemade and they only use fresh meats. It's one of the only things I get when I go back to see my mom. The others are Rocky's roast beef, veal parmesan or stuffed pepper.

I really hated saying "the best pizza"...but I thought about eating the box.

I've had both and Ben's is better. I'm not sure how to explain it but that crust and sauce with the seasoning blend they sprinkle on the top is just plain money. Love going back to see my boys in da' parish brah.

I am enjoying some warmed up Ben's pizza for lunch right now. Lunch comes early for me...sometime between breakfast hours and the lunch rush.

Hey BrokenEgg... I live in Slidell.

MY BIL is in a running group that meets on Sat. AM at the Mandeville Trail. I haven't made their runs b/c of football season.

Coming soon here, I will be visiting you to try it out. I hear it's great. I looked at the menu online and the creative egg white omelets look good.

Care to offer your favorite?

You can get any of the omelets or scramblers with egg whites or with egg substitute instead of the whole egg. My favorite is the Floridian, but it got cream cheese folded in the middle, and the crab meat is sauteed in a compound butter of garlic, parsley, and white wine.

You might as well burn the calories on the run, then come and eat off something decadent, because all the flavor is in the bad stuff for you.

We have a paneed redfish, with poached eggs and a andouille hollandaise that is just awesome. We really stress not overcooking the poach, so in our system, the eggs will always come out lighlt poached and extremely runny. If you want them poached more, you should ask the server before the order gets turned in.

You can find something on the menu that will work with your food requirements, there are about 120 items if you include all the options.

Also if you are coming on a Saturday morning, try to call ahead about 30 min before arriving and get your name on the wait. It works for those that use the system.

I am always in BR on Saturday and Sunday in the kitchen expediting food. My wife is always at he Mandeville restaurant, usually up front because our head chef is in the kitchen there.

Her name is Liam, ask for her, and she will take care of you.

We have done a lot with Varsity Sports since they moved into Mandeville. They are two doors down on Claiborne if you need any running gear.

I didn't know you were next to Varsity Sports. I go in there sometimes to buy new gear.

Great place, nice people.

They are in the middle of the block, we are on the corner of Claiborn and Gerard. We are in a house that was built in the 20's, there is a little carved wood sign out front, so it would be easy for you to miss if you didn't know.

Please go to the Northeast for true "coal fired ovens." Nothing else is in the discussion except for Naples.
