About the 56th chew into that squid and I was wondering if I should just swallow it or spit it out…literally nothing was changing, it was expanding if anything. Doesn’t taste like anything, which is good…but the texture does something to my brain that says ‘this isn’t food’.

I am not grossed out by mackerel as a food, but it’s too fishy for me. Squid, octopus, and the shrimp they sometimes do are a no-go for me because of texture.
Pretty much everything else I like. Sea bream, amberjack, salmon, tuna or salmon belly, etc.
I avoid chef samplers at places that aren’t super specialty because they fill it with shrimp, octopus, and that ugly escolar fish that makes you poop if you eat too much. With so many of your plate being ones I’m not into, I’d not have ordered that and just doubled up on the pieces I actually enjoy.

This was my take on foie gras. Initially "Wow, this is delicious!" Then it just felt like chewing on a piece of steak fat that kept getting bigger. One bite was enough.
