First place I thought of was Copenhagen. Like all of Scandinavia, it's very family and kid oriented. And Tivoli Gardens is there and is the amusement park that inspired Walt Disney. It's a really nice historic amusement park that is a fraction of the cost of Disney. Copenhagen is also the home of Hans Christian Anderson and there are some museums about him and his children's stories and his grave is there in an old cemetery. There are also some old medieval towers you can go up in which kids love and there are all sorts of boating opportunities since Copenhagen is on the water. There are also castles you can tour not far from the city and the Louisiana Art Museum, nothing to do with the state though. It's a museum with a lot of outdoor areas and a really cool cafe on the cliff overlooking the ocean..It's a quick train ride, over the big bridge, to Malmo Sweden which is a cool city with a huge pedestrian only area. The only problem is Copenhagen is very, very expensive.
