To load the gun you must pull the hammer back to the half-cock notch. Then you rotate the lever on the right side of the frame 180 degrees forward, which allows the barrels to tip up and gives access to the chambers. Not sure I would be accurate over 10' anyway, so more of a...I don't want to use the word novelty, regarding a gun, because I grew up shooting and respecting them, but we live in a very safe place. This is something I can feel comfortable with, because of the size and ease of loading.
