My great uncle was stationed in Africa in the tank division battling Rommel throughout the desert when they came across a small German patrol. My uncle shot and killed the German officer standing in a Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 half track. He took his gun, holster, all his Nazi medals and ammunition and buried it in the desert to retrieve it later. He brought it home after the war and has been in my family ever since.
