Most have a night vision mode now and there is no excuse for not one photo or video.

I've often wondered about that. Any electronic/electric device would emit something indicating that it's being used.
If these creatures are hostile, they could probably cause harm to those taking these pictures.
An old completely manual and mechanical camera would be needed with fast film and no flash.
