How about taking into the consideration what the child is going through? How long the kid struggled with this. Believe it or not, the kid would prefer to be straight. But he's not. And he's been struggling with this for years. As stated by a previous poster, there is a shock, and an undeniable disappointment when a child is gay. But as a parent you eventually get past that because that is YOUR frickING KID. My hope is that OP's only role in parental existence is in a "step" capacity. The guy is the lowest form of scum for making it about himself.
