It's to have him ready for game 1 in the super regional. What's not to understand here?

On top of that, if we can't win out of this regional with the entire pitching staff, we don't deserve Omaha.

How about this. If we can't beat 40 loss Tulane with our #2 starter, we don't deserve Omaha. See how that works?

Skenes could have (and should be) pitched today and that would be 6 days before he would pitch again which 6-7 days has been his norm...

True, so by that argument we should have been able to throw anyone else and still beat Tulane and have our ace for today against the 2nd seeded Oregon State...
