I have an older pool with the dial style mechanical timers for my filter pump and booster pump (which I no longer use). The switch to turn my pool lights on and off is located in the box panel along with this mechanical timers so anytime I want to turn my pool lights on, I have to go outside, open the box and flip the switch manually. I want to find a better alternative so I found some Wifi switches online that could potentially work, but I'm no electrician and nowhere close to an expert on pool equipment and their electrical requirements. Does anyone know if I one of these Wifi switches would work to control my filter pump (1-1/2HP) and my pool lights (not worried about booster pump)? Or, does anyone have another solution that is inexpensive as I will be selling this house in the not so distant future?

That Amazon product says it has sufficient current capability, and there are a lot of positive reviews.

You might visit a larger pool supply store, ask for recommendations, and look at build quality of different controllers. Beware that established brands like Pentair seem to charge ten times as much for equivalent products.

On similar outdoor projects I've found that grounding issues, leaky conduit, and other factors can give unexpected results - sometimes right away and sometimes after a few years - so hold on to your old mechanical controls for a while.

I added a wifi switch bought off of amazon a few years ago. Works well. Be sure you have strong wifi signal near pool equipment. We connected the switch to alexa to make it more convenient

Edit: just looked at your link. We just installed a normal wifi rocker switch (about $20) in the existing housing so not familiar with that setup

I use a similar one that’s zwave compatible for my water feature. It works well. I’m probably going to replace my cleaner timer with one soon.

Kasa x3 rocker Wi-Fi Switch for pool lights, pump and bubbles. Each turn on and off their own high amp relay which then turns off and on the device they each control.

Yeah, I tried a Kasa rocker switch inside the box outside, but the WiFi signal wasn't strong enough to get through the walls and then the metal box. I thought about adding an external antennae that then went into the box, but I could see that leading to other issues and it still may not work.

Just get this. You put this in place of the switch then get other wire and wire your existing switch to the Shelly's switch inputs.

When you move, just remove it and rewire the existing switch.

Edit: just saw you tried a kasa wifi switch but it didn't work due to signal. Have you looked into expanding your wifi signal to the pool area?
