Insisting not putting morgan at first, pinch hitting jones for pearson, then putting in little. I like JJ don’t get me wrong but the decisions he made today I just don’t understand.

The moves were designed with the postseason in mind. If Beloso can handle first, it allows for stronger OF defense. LSU is a much better offense with Jones hitting well, so trying to get him going is a reasonable gamble. LSU needs as many options as possible in the bullpen for postseason. I think Little had already proven a failure but Johnson clearly sees trying to get him right as worth the effort. He got too cute with the 9 run lead last week, but I don’t think we can judge his decisions solely in the context of one game. If he keeps doing it in the postseason, that’s a different story.

How many plays does an outfielder make per game vs a 1st Baseman?

100% I believe CJJ played this game with post season vision front and center. He spoke openly in the week before the game about pitchers mindsets going into or facing unfavorable conditions.

Edit: someone from the team spoke about the pitchers focusing on that this week.

I’m going to give Jay credit for putting together a great baseball team. Unfortunately he has lost talent that might otherwise have us playing for the national championship. He said this weekend was a business trip to Georgia. I know he want to win all three games, but maybe just as important was determining who he can trust playing in post season play.
