Where is the data to support this?
Tons of data out there on overall growth in golf. The rounds played metric has shown consistent, sustained growth compared to pre covid. It has held up despite easing restrictions over last 2 years.
Anecdotally, my club went from no waitlist to 6mos at least for full membership. Just about all others I know of are the same. Huge part of the growth seems to be young crowd. Golf social media evidences this pretty well. It certainly appears that the game is positioned for long term success.

I totally understand the growth but no one is acknowledging the cyclical nature of this.
Early 2000’s when Tiger was dominating the PGA Tour we saw a huge growth in the popularity of golf but also the booming of new courses that were being built.
Around 2010 or so it kind of faded away and golf struggled for years.
Things have an ebb and flow to them and golf is no exception.
