Hustle culture is rewarding in the short term and can be long term as well, but leads to burnout and leaves zero time for pursuing personal recreational happiness.

A balance is always best, but most millennials and GZers are either hard one way or the other.

One of my wife’s friends married a dude that’s pushing 5’6 on a good day and the “independent women” of the group pick on her about it sometimes. She finally got tired of it and roasted their asses by pointing out that they’re all driving used Hondas, work 40+ hours a week, are living in 1200 sqft alone, and their 6’0 boyfriends are all alcoholics that cheat on them with shocking regularity. Meanwhile, she raises her children, drives a new Volvo every three years when the lease runs out, and her husband loves and adores her.

It was hilarious

My point in sharing that is to say some of these women are so blinded by their desire to be viewed as “independent women” that’s it’s to their own detriment. Yeah, that woman’s husband is short, but they’re diving in Grand Cayman while you dumbasses are drinking wine and watching Gilmore Girls because your bf cheated again

This is not the path to happiness. We weren't made to sit around like slugs, and therefore sitting around like slugs does not make us happy.

Good for her. The standards some women have today are hilarious and fueled by the “everyone is beautiful” epidemic. When they started putting legit whales on the cover of swimsuit magazines it empowered ugly fatties to think they deserve a 6 foot Adonis with a 6 figure job.

Social media culture doesn’t help and is wrecking western women. My wife shares these videos with me of other women taking pride in acting like spoiled counts making demands of their husbands. In some of them they even include their daughters demanding daddy’s credit card

And these weak men accept it.

Northeastern Louisiana is lacking in many, many areas but for $450k you can reasonably ask how many head of cattle come with that house.

I'm an old married dude but my sons are around college age. It amazes me how focused on superficial crap women are today. They seem to have insane standards of they want a GQ dude who makes $400k and lets them do anything they want. That's just not going to ever work because the few dudes that are true "High Value" guys like that have a line of 20 chicks anytime they want them. You have a lot of other dudes that are rock solid in most ways but aren't perfect so women just hold out thinking they can get that dude the other 20 women are chasing (and the dude often turns out to be not what they expected).

It used to be "You're not perfect and I'm not perfect but we are perfect for each other". That's how lasting relationships work. I know for me it is that my wife is too stubborn to admit a mistake. :) Seriously though a relationship is doomed if you have insane expectations of each other and expect it to be a romance novel every day.
