The main ingredient in most cat and dog food is corn which is cheap and unnatural food for a carnivore. If you live in the country and have freezer space you can easily find someone with an unwanted donkey or Shetland pony you can butcher and have a large supply of good healthy food for your animal. Use the liver and heart also but don't advertise or animal rights folks will descend on you. Deer meat is good also. Corn is probably the main culprit in the diabetes epidemic in dogs. It turns to sugar in their system and in yours also. Even feed yard cattle can't stay on corn too long or bad things happen to their health.
