Cub Cadet is great
Lol
ETA: as other posters stated, go with Kawasaki engine over kohler. I have a 2007 John Deere with a Briggs & Stratton motor still running strong. Had to replace deck though. Not going to lie, I’ve put this mower through hell.
Badboy zero turn has the thickest gage deck but again if you buy one get the Kawasaki engine not the Kohler.
Stay away from cub cadet, toro, Dixie chopper, husqvarna and Gravely. Exmarks are good mowers but might go over your $8K budget.

Dixie chopper and gravely aren't solid?
