Download onx

Watch RANDY newburgs elk hunt series with onx on YouTube

Use stair master. Increase intensity weekly

Wear your pack. Add weight. Get your core strong.

Don’t try to save money on gear. You will regret cheap gear. They have great backpack hunting Facebook groups to get used gear

Buy leg gaiters. I use kuiu but lots of good options.

Shoot your bow daily. When that elk is at 50 yds, missing can’t be an option. Practice ranging and shooting quickly.

Meal prep. Don’t wait until last minute to understand what your body will need and how to pack light weight

Bring pedialyte packets. It will save your arse if you get dehydrated. Drink twice what you think you need.

Understand the country you are in. Grizzly country means you need to study grizzly behaviors.

Contact a local packer. Sometimes paying the money to get one packed out is worth it depending on the distance and amount of time you have to hunt. Plus, in emergency, you want them on standby

Get a garmin in reach if the area you are hunting has no service. The SOS feature and insurance to pay for that helicopter ride is worth it if needed.

Cook an elk tenderloin rare over the fire. Best thing ever.

Yeah we will be in good shape, we have pretty good gear for the most part: good packs, good glass, shoot our bows a bunch.
